Chinese Archery I
Class Objective
|
Chinese Archery I, Ritual Archery 文射, is a basic archery course. Students will learn about range rules and etiquette and critical archery form through ritual archery. Unlike modern bows, traditional bows do not have auxiliary accessories, so archer's form is the core and only thing matters. Since arrow head could not be seen during big draw, students need to learn instinct aim instead of using their eyes like in modern archery. All equipment including safety kits will be provided. |
Prerequisite

Minimum age 8 years old or 7 with pre-evaluation. |
Class Format

4 sessions (1hour/week). Max 6 people/class. |
Syllabus
|
· Prevent injury. · Range safety rules and etiquette · Instinct aim . Thumb draw, arrow placed on lateral side of bow · Critical archery forms and skills including alignment and full draw 入彀, and Khatra 让箭 · Big draw shooting (5/10M) · History of ritual archery and other knowledge about Chinese archery |
Chinese Archery II
Class Objective

Chinese Archery II, elementary Military Archery 武射, is an intermediate archery course. Students will apply skills from I and transit from big draw to small draw at longer distances. More methods and grips of drawing, nocking, and releasing arrow will be introduced to set a solid foundation for speed shooting. All equipment including safety kits will be provided. |
Prerequisite

Require Archery A1, Chinese Archery I, or legit experience in modern recurve or compound bows. |
Class Format
|
4 sessions (1hour/week). Max 6 people/class. |
Syllabus
|
· Small draw with different hand grips on both lateral and medial side of bows (10/15M) · Critical archery forms and skills including alignment and full draw 入彀, and Khatra 让箭 · Different grips for speed loading arrows and blind nock · Drills and games · Introduction to speed shooting, depends on the student’s learning conditions. · History of military archery and other knowledge about Chinese archery |
Chinese Archery III
Class Objective

Chinese Archery III, intermediate Military Archery 武射, is intro stage of speed shooting. Students need to maintain correct form during speed shooting. All equipment including safety kits will be provided. |

Advanced Speed Shooting
Class Objective
|
Advanced speed shooting is final stage of archery on foot before moving to mounted archery. Students need to polish speed shooting and related tactical/martial arts movements. All equipment including safety kits will be provided. |

Class Format

Syllabus

· Carrying multiple arrows with the hand and shoot . Footwork and shooting on the move |
Target Shooting
Class Objective
|
Target shooting is an advance class about shooting at a 40 cm target at 20 yards. Participants will learn several variations under both aiming (reference point) and instinctive shooting methods while polishing their form. |
Prerequisite

Require Chinese Archery II To enroll the class, students must bring fiberglass bow over 25lb or laminated bow. |

Manchu Archery
Class Objective
|
Manchu archery is a distinctive style within Chinese archery, characterized by the unique Qing bow and cylindrical thumb ring. It is well-suited for further advancement after learning the big draw technique. |

Note: - Syllabus is subjected to adjustments according to students’ conditions. - All the teaching materials are documented in ancient texts. Students could use their own bows if they already have.
